Guide to Business Dining Etiquette

Is it your first business dinner or lunch?
Don't worry I got you cover, you will know everything you need to be ready for it.
If you're the host, you're in charge.

You should chose appropriate restaurant, make a reservation ahead. Restaurants get busy during lunch/dinner times, you don't want to waist your time by waiting for a table to be available.
Being in charge also means that the host is always responsible for the bill.
If you're the guest always try to reach your pocket to show that you're going to pay, Never argue over the bill and who is going to pay. If your company dose not allow you to accept a meal, just say politely that it's company policy and that you have to split the bill.
Eat something before the meeting

Eat something ahead, have a fruit or protein bar. It will make you focus more in the conversation not on the food.
Even if you're going to great restaurant that you like, you're there for business not for food.
Dress appropriately.
There is no one outfit that will be appropriate for all the occasions, it's really depends on the context of the meeting.
If you still not sure what to wear, it's always a good idea to look the restaurant website and see what vibes you get.
Remember, overdressing is better than underdressing.
Arrive on time.
Plan your travel well and make sure to arrive on time, even better if you be there even a little bit early.
If you going to be late, do panic text or call your host or the restaurant and tell them. And if your gust is late to try reach him immediately on time, wait 10 minutes then call.
Silence your phone

This one is obvious, keep it silence not vibrating. Vibrating phone is as bad as a ringing one.
Keep your phone in your packet or in your purse, don't put it on the table. No texting no phone calls and for sure no Instagraming!
Shake hand

On Arrival shake hand with everyone and introduce yourself with anyone you don't know.
Remember their names especially your host, so at the end of the business male you're gong to thank him or her.
Follow your host lead

It is easy just follow your host lead. Wait to sit until your host sits first, and if there is no host wait till the senior person to sit.
If the host order an appetizer you do the same, if he or she order dessert do the same, don't order if he or she did not.
Wait for your host to begin eating before you start.
The place setting

Usually you will deal only with fork, knife and spoon, in a fancy restaurant you will have more in the table, so it is better be prepared .
The general rule is that utensils are placed in the order of their use. So, start from the outside and work your way in.
There is a trick to remember BMW, BMW here stands for bread, meal, and water so remember that your bread-and-butter plate is on the left, the meal is in the middle, and your water glass is on the right.

The napkin
Place your napkin in your lap right away. The napkin should only be used for blotting the sides of your mouth.
It only have one use, don't use it for something else like blowing your nose or cleaning your silverware. Do not spit any inedible food into your napkin.

What to order

Ask the host for her or his recommendation, that will gave you a hint with the price rang. Don't order the most expensive item.
Safe yourself the embarrassment and don't order trouble food, what I mean by that is anything with a lot of sauce, or anything that can get stuck in your teeth. Stay away from spaghetti and burgers. Chicken is always a safe option, order things that are easy to eat and not messy.
